Apo Island & Dauin
Diving Apo island & Dauin
Dauin was the final stop for me last time. I was made aware by divers in MoalBoal that the macro diving there was excellent so I had to go see and they were so right! Dauin is a simple little town with 1 really good dive center. A lot of day trips and liveaboards visit Apo Island and here you will find what is as close to paradise as you can be. Crystal clear waters, top-notch reef diving, and some deep dive opportunities.
Dauin
Dauin is a small town east of Dumaguete, the entry point of this area. You can fly here or take a ferry from a nearby island. Dauin itself is very quaint, in a good way! You can stay at various guesthouses or even rent a cheap room with locals if you're staying longer.

The diving scene here is very specialized in macro diving. Shore dives with mostly sandy bottom sloping to 40 meters before the edge brings you down much further. The small creatures you will see here are many, rare and amazing. Also, a very good spot for night diving, in which you will see a whole other world!
Apo Island
Apo Island is a beautiful little island situated along the coast near Dumaguete. You can visit and/ or stay here. The accommodation is very basic and you will feel yourself relaxing a bit more every day. Besides that, there is not much more to do than diving, which is excellent! One of the most crystal clear reef diving I have done made me leave this place with great sadness and even fonder memories.
How to get there?
To get to Apo Island or Dauin you will have to either Fly to Dumaguete or take a ferry, from for example Cebu. From Dumaguete, you can catch a taxi to Dauin or a port a bit further called Malatapay. Many motor boats are leaving throughout the day.
However, if you're staying for a longer period a probably better option is to stay in Dauin. A town that offers bars, restaurants, and supermarkets as well as wifi.
